Maha Shivratri is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and is grandly celebrate at Ramanathaswamy temple (Mandir). During this festive, lahks of pilgrims from various states & countries would arrival to the island to take part in the festival and offer pooja’s to the Lord Shiva Shrine.
12th day of Maha Shivaratri festival begin with flag hoisting and a huge pilgrims crowd flocking the temple to attend this festive. Thanga therodum is a special event during this festive in Rameswaram. Its celebrate every year in reverence of Lord Shiva.
This festive is happening on March 2nd 2017, Saturday for this year and its followed by sunday morgning with car festival says temple administartion. Whole sunday night Devotees keep awake for special pooja called ‘Aaru kala Pooja’s’ and ‘Naalu Kala Pooja’s’ would be dedicate for Swamy and Ambal. After this festive devotees would take holy bath then concur with Masi Amavasa and the festive come to end on March 13 2017.
Temple administration has arranging basic facilities for the devotees interms of drinking water, sanitation facilites and alerting the different way of police security.
