Panguni uthiram is the most imperative celebration at Rameswaram and its start on month of April begin every year. The celebration started with banner raising on April 1st and exceptional customs were performed ordinary.

Panguni Uthiram (Tamil:பங்குனி உத்திரம்) also called us Meena Uttara-phalguni in Sanskrit) is a day of significance to Tamil Hindus. It starts on the day the moon travels in the asterism or nakshatram of Uttara-phalguni or Uthiram in the twelfth month of the Tamil sun oriented schedule i.e. Panguni (March–April). It is the full moon of the time of Panguni.

Significance of Panguni Uthiram:

This month is exceptional in light of the fact that the Uthiram nakshatram harmonizes with the full moon. This full moon connotes the marriage of Parvati and Parameswara (Lord Shiva), Murugan and Deivanai, and Aandaal (otherwise called Kothai) and Rangamannar occurred. On Panguni Uthiram, Narayana weds Komalavalli Naachiyar and give his Kalyana Kola Seva to his Bhakthas. Once more, Valmiki’s Ramayana says it is on this day and star that Sita’s marriage with Rama was commended.
